Lilies from the garden are helping us deal with the underlying smell of cats’ pee in our dining room We start to settle down into a rhythm in the lovely town of San Cristobal. The town is not massively touristy and yet there are enough to ensure a good supply of lovely shops, cafés andContinue reading “Settling into San Cristobal life”

Ecuador- our amazing adventure
How Squirrels and Capuchin Monkeys work together. This blog will tell you about how capuchin and squirrel monkeys work together. When two or more species live together and help each other, this is called symbiosis. Capuchin monkeys are heavier, so when they jump from tree to tree the branches shake and the insects fly offContinue reading “Ecuador- our amazing adventure”
Ecuador – Ants that taste like lemons
In the jungle we had our own cabin and our own beds The food was amazing and almost every day we went on a canoe and spotted everything we could. Our guide was called Diego and he was really kind. More ruins and cats pee
It seems as though all of my recent blogs start with a long, arduous journey and this is no exception! We wondered about breaking the journey between Tulum and Palenque, but eventually decide to take the overnight bus and do it in one go. We’re getting used to these journeys – the buses are air-conditionedContinue reading “More ruins and cats pee”
Mexico 2. – Onwards to Palenque
The Astonishing Mayan Palenque Ruins. Only 3% of these ruins have actually been uncovered from the jungle mass under which they are buried. Our Mexico plan at the moment is to head north to Palenque, San Cristobal for a month, Oaxaca for two weeks and then DF, from where our flights heads back home. Palenque isContinue reading “Mexico 2. – Onwards to Palenque”

It’s a long journey from Quito to Mexico, particularly as the cheapest flights take us via Miami and back down to Cancun on the Yucatan Peninsular. With only 3 hours sleep In a Miami hotel. We really do need a few days to recover. I have a natural aversion to Cancun, this man made seaContinue reading “Mexico 1. Tulum….. And the Memories come flooding back……”

Ecuador – Quito- the water really does go the other way down the sink at the Equator.
Pampellacta was a wonderful place. The best thing was the hot steaming thermal pools! They had natural water from underground in our hotel. There were four pools. 1/ the perfect temperature2/ a bit hotter, 3/ BOILING and 4/ freezing as a a cool off for the boiling one. One day we were there we went onContinue reading “Ecuador – Quito- the water really does go the other way down the sink at the Equator.”
Ecuador – a Tribe – Not headshrinkers
As you know my last blog was on the head shrinkers but now it is time for desert… this will not be so horrible but still quite disgusting. First they have to get a piece of tight string and tie it on their willy, because there is a fish that gets into it and canContinue reading “Ecuador – a Tribe – Not headshrinkers”
