Our minibus ride up from Vientiane to Vang Vieng is relatively uneventful – the countryside is fairly flat to start with; as it starts to get more hilly and interesting, unfortunately it also starts to get dark. On arrival, we make our way to the Champa Lao guesthouse on the edge of (this small) townContinue reading “Vang Vieng”

What I like about Nepal
I like Nepal because I got Snicker bars everyday and because Karma was always very kind to us when we went walking. He carved us lots of sticks. He made me a special stick with a lion’s head. One day we were all stuffed because we had so much supper, he came up with aContinue reading “What I like about Nepal”
Return to Kathmandu
Every morning when we got back to Kathmandu I got up very early to play football on the street with Norbu and Finso, Pronis my new friend and Raisin my new friend. Pronis did speak quite good English. We had a party almost at midnight, dancing to music namely Nicky Ménage, chosen by Millie andContinue reading “Return to Kathmandu”
How sharp knives can get
Some people in Karma’s village were cutting things for their lunch, greens to put in their noodle soup. Dad put an order of making me a knife – we were watching the man make it. It was very, very, very, very, very sharp. Karma made me a cardboard sheath with cardboard and Velcro wrapped around.Continue reading “How sharp knives can get”

Mind blowing mountains

Women were wearing dresses with a tough like carpet hanging down the back and there were children running around with no clothes on.Continue reading “Mind blowing mountains”
Laos 2- Slowly and dreamily runs the River
We get the 8 hr bus to Luang Prabang, stopping in Vang Vieng to halve the journey. Mark and I think a 2 day stop to break the journey might be a good idea, so we book into a little Traditional Lao guest house. As we arrive by night and it’s dark we have noContinue reading “Laos 2- Slowly and dreamily runs the River”

Gateway to South East Asia
(NB – our camera has been sent back to the UK for repair 😢) From Kathmandu, our journey into South East Asia takes us via Kuala Lumpur. We only have one day here before we head to Laos – the airport is about an hour’s drive from the city centre, so our original plan wasContinue reading “Gateway to South East Asia”
Farewell Nepal
So we head back to Kathmandu and say goodbye to the snowy mountains, at least for a few months. The children are happy to be back with their friends – ever since we arrived at Karma’s house we’ve been encouraging Gabriel to go and play football with Norbu and his friends but it’s only nowContinue reading “Farewell Nepal”
