We need to get to Bangkok for our flight to Sydney and then on to Aukland. After some some debate, we decide to travel up the west coast of Cambodia, crossing the border at Koh Kong. It’s a rather bitty journey, but made easier by doing the first leg – up to the Thai borderContinue reading “New Zealand – it’s home from home for Christmas!”

New Zealand – A Different Christmas
Bay of Islands When we went to Sarah’s house it was Christmas Eve and we were very excited for tomorrow because it would be Christmas and tonight Santa will come and give us presents. We did not think Santa would come because we were in New Zealand and we live in England and he alwaysContinue reading “New Zealand – A Different Christmas”
New Zealand 2 – Au Revoir 2014 Bonjour 2015
We say our Goodbyes to the Waller-Yates, and the lovely handsome three boys and head off from The Bay of Islands, via Keri Keri to a camp site cabin, in Opononi (for a fun morning of sand dune surfing) and then onwards to Tinopai, not somewhere we intended to go but that road looked beautifulContinue reading “New Zealand 2 – Au Revoir 2014 Bonjour 2015”
Cambodia – Rockclimbing and playing pool
I’m in Kampot which is in southern Cambodia. Kampot is very famous for pepper and they do very very good Pepper. We went to a pepper farm and we saw all the peppercorns growing on the vines. The peppercorns were very wrinkly green balls. The vines were growing up brick towers and there were rowsContinue reading “Cambodia – Rockclimbing and playing pool”
New Zealand 1 – The Lands Down Under
We make a quick change of plan to travel to Bangkok, where we are getting our outward bound flight to NZ, via Koh Chang and the Southern coast of Cambodia rather than the night bus to Bangkok from Phnom Penn, which would be far too long and uncomfortable. However this means that I have to return toContinue reading “New Zealand 1 – The Lands Down Under”
A river runs through it
We’d briefly considered travelling down from Phnom Penh to Kampot by boat, but quickly discovered it largely involved going down through the centre of a huge lake, so nothing much to see, so we opt for the bus. The countryside on the way down is very flat, with huge expanses of paddy fields. The housesContinue reading “A river runs through it”
Cambodia- Swimming pools and boring temples!
Now I’m in Cambodia, in Siem Reap. We stayed in a place called Golden Banana, which was totally heaven. There was a swimming pool and the staff were really nice to us. We met Shunmay (Millie’s godmother) – when we came back from an outing for lunch it was a surprise to see her sittingContinue reading “Cambodia- Swimming pools and boring temples!”
Cambodia 2 – Salt and Pepper
We spend our last 10 days in Kampot on the Southern coast of Cambodia, where the wide Kampot River meets the sea. It’s a river place, not a seaside place, a sleepy laid back, once old and French, now old and quite dilapidated back-packery place. We settle into a lovely Eco Lodge, The Ganesha, outContinue reading “Cambodia 2 – Salt and Pepper”
Cambodia – Carlos and ShortTail
There are two geckos who live here, Carlos and Shorttail. There is one more gecko called Carlita. Carlos and Shortail had a fight when suddenly Carlos bit off Shorttail’s tale. I think because they both wanted Carlita to be their girlfriend. So Carlos had the right to Carlita, well he did win the huge fight! OrContinue reading “Cambodia – Carlos and ShortTail”
