How Squirrels and Capuchin Monkeys work together.
This blog will tell you about how capuchin and squirrel monkeys work together. When two or more species live together and help each other, this is called symbiosis.
Capuchin monkeys are heavier, so when they jump from tree to tree the branches shake and the insects fly off and the squirrel monkeys can eat them. The males can grow up to nearly 5 kg! Can you believe it! The squirrel monkeys aren’t as heavy, so the branches don’t move as much. The males only grow up to 1 1/4 kg which is so light compared to the capuchins.
How will they help each other
The squirrels need a leader. If they don’t have a leader they don’t know what to do. They’re just like humans – when we don’t have a leader we don’t know what to do either. The capuchin leader is called the alpha male and he is the biggest one so the Cappuchins become the squirrel’s leaders.
If any of the two species hears a predator like a harpy eagle, whoever spots it will call an alarm to warn everyone else. But the squirrels and the capuchins are different species so their call is different but they can recognise each other’s calls.
