Ecuador- Darwin’s theory of evolution.

No two creatures are exactly the same. Let’s say, if you had any brothers and sisters, just look at them for a minute and compare them. Is one nicer than the other? Is one a bigger shape ? Do their ears look the same? Are some smarter? The more you look, the more differences you will find! You and your siblings have the same parents but you are not exactly the same are you? You see that applies to any creature, whether it’s a cat, elephant or even a goldfish but if you look REALLY closely they are not exactly the same! Take a look at your parents, they are not totally the same but one way or another they are a bit alike. If your parents have big feet then you are likely to have big feet. If your parents have have brown skin, then you will have brown skin. If your parents are short you will probably be short too. It’s like that in every family! But it’s not just true in human families – if a horse gives birth to a foal not an alligator. This may seem obvious but it’s important according to evolution. The word for that is “Heritability”

Let’s say two birds have 20 babies, 10 of which are girls and 10 are boys. Every day these birds have to eat grubs from a tree. Some of the birds have longer beaks and let’s say they have a better advantage than the weaker ones so they’ll get the food and the weaker ones will die, so the stronger ones will breed and it will all start over and over and that’s called over population.

Darwin went to the Galapagos which is where I am now and on every island he found a bird and he thought they were just the same, but he looked very closely and noticed that they were different in some way. Then he had an idea, that that was what happened to humans.

Darwin named the birds Darwin’s finches and there are 18 different species of them.
