Ecuador – Cuenca – What a Special Birthday

I have just had my ears pierced

Well it started out great on April Fool’s day when in the afternoon, me and mum went to get my ears pierced and it didn’t hurt – it was just a loud sound, sort of a clicky sound, but now I have to put alcohol on them to stop them from getting infected and they also hurt a little but I am really proud of them and I love them a lot.

On my Birthday for breakfast we had French toast and it tasted so good, after that I went to Spanish school and the head teacher gave me a rose, and then my teacher have me a bracelet and a card! After 2 hours we had a break and some of the teachers brought in a cake and sang ” Feliz Cumpleanos a ti”…… And then the head asked me to take a bite and she stuffed the cake in my face and then she said the tradition was to whack you on the bum 10 times by all different people with a belt.

Two hours had passed when we had to say our goodbyes, because that was our last day. After that me and Gabriel and dad walked home and found mum and Millie had put up lots of balloons and then our friends came for lunch and we went horse riding which was really fun.

So I had a really fun birthday!!!!

  1. Happy (belated) birthday Jemima. Did you get 10 whacks on your bum because you are 10 years old? I can’t remember how old you are.Jenny Smith

  2. Hello Jemima, it’s lovely to look at your birthday photos – very silly of me to send birthday greetings via your dad instead of here! Duh, sorry! Anyway, it looks like you had a lovely day (except for a face full of cake instead of a mouth full!)The horses look very calm and well behaved, and very green countryside to ride through.Keep up the news. Dad says the internet connection is slow on Galapagos, but I’ll keep my eyes open for news. Please will you ask daddy which Mark Dickinson he is on Skype?! There are loads of Mark Dickinsons without photos so I could try them all but some would be very surprised hehe. Lots of love, Anne xx
