Cambodia- Swimming pools and boring temples!

Now I’m in Cambodia, in Siem Reap. We stayed in a place called Golden Banana, which was totally heaven. There was a swimming pool and the staff were really nice to us. We met Shunmay (Millie’s godmother) – when we came back from an outing for lunch it was a surprise to see her sitting at a table waiting for us. I went in the swimming pool with her, dad, mum, Gabriel and Millie and it was so much fun. I climbed on dad’s shoulders and Millie climbed on my shoulders and it looked so silly because we were very wobbly! Gabriel was on Shunmay’s shoulders and I was on dad’s shoulders and we fought like we were on horses. Gabriel eventually fell off and me and dad were the winners 😀

We went to some temples early in the morning which were actually really boring. But they had trees growing out of the temple which were actually quite funny. Dad told us it was in a film that we had seen (Lara Croft) but we were disappointed because we didn’t realise that they took short snaps from every temple that we went to. Angkor Wat was the boringest of all because I couldn’t even hear anything the guide was saying because he was talking too fast so I had nothing to do. We also went to Bayon but I could tell that I woke up on the wrong side of the bed and not in the right mood.

Phnom Penh

in Phnom Penh we met up with Shunmay again and her friend Nicola. They were staying in a really quite fancy hotel with an extremely nice swimming pool and deck chairs. They treated us to a strawberry milkshake with whipped cream and it was so delicious. After that we went to a traditional Cambodian place for dinner and we ordered some yummy food.   Nicola showed us how to make some special sauce that the locals use to dip some chopped beef in and we did exactly the same. The sauce was made out of a special pepper from Kampot and fresh lime mixed together. Shunmay secretly ordered us two plates of chips to share. When everything had been cooked and ready to put on the table, our table was already absolutely filled. After our feast and our bellies were full it was time to say goodbye so we all jumped in the tuk-tuk wich took us back to the Golden Banana 🍌
